Play-Reading Marathon 2020: Variations on Kraepelin’s Model

A Cantonese play-reading of Italian playwright Davide Carnevali’s theatrical script. The play delves into the memories of Central European ethnic conflicts through the lens of a man with dementia, using dreamlike, murmuring fractured language that contradicts itself, presenting a compelling challenge for direction. Composed of fragmented segments that alternate between text and images, the play challenges chronological logic with its contradictory sections, blending reality with magical realism to explore themes of identity and history.
