Western Xia Hotel

Nestled in the crevices of untold narratives, a desolate inn serves as a poignant reflection of the human spirit.

Authorized by Taiwanese writer Luo Yi Jun, this play adapts his novel of the same title. In his extensive work, Luo explores the profound sense of displacement and identity search through the prism of the once-flourishing and later obliterated Western Xia dynasty. Playwright Yan Pat-to draws on these motifs to address the identity crisis and societal divisions in contemporary Hong Kong, crafting a narrative about the fading of culture and the decline of cities.
