Fisher King & Handless Maiden

Two myths about trauma in men and women morph into a performance combining video, music, puppetry, and environmental installation.

Fisher King: A character from the medieval Holy Grail legends, a king wounded in the groin, a mentally ill patient whose symbolic system has malfunctioned, and a man obsessed with fish.

Handless Maiden: A woman from the Grimm fairy tales whose hands are chopped off, a bleeding mistaken angel, an out-of-control puppeteer, a time-traveling wandering woman.

The lives of Fisher King and Handless Maiden are filled with legendary and exotic colors. Their stories seem to declare: "Without having been sick, one cannot understand; without having been hurt, one cannot imagine."
