The full-day seminar explores trends in English, French, and German theatre texts with experts like Prof. Dan Rebellato, Dr. Lin Kuan Wu, and Prof. Yang Li Li. Sessions will cover the evolution of theatre development, the relationship between new writing and performance from the a director’s perspective, and insights from diverse playwrights across Hong Kong, Beijing, Taiwan, and Macau on future directions of scriptwriting and theatrical aesthetics in the 21st century.

Led by the visiting professor at the University of Giessen in Germany, this workshop employs new writings like Dea Loher's "Das letzte Feuer" and Caryl Churchill's "Far Away" to share practical insights with local theatre creators, focusing on the aesthetics of directing and scriptwriting.

After the Berlin Wall fell, Berlin was eager to craft a new city image and was desperate for young and innovative theatre creators, leading to a surge of innovative and compelling theatrical works. Play-Reading Salon: New Writing Aftertaste

Since 2010, On & On has introduced several significant new European plays in the format of hybrid reading and performing, aiming at opening up a broader interpretive space for the scripts. This play-reading salon session blends excerpts from various contemporary European theatre pieces, involving a group of emerging theatre talents to explore the performance world of new writing and share a theatrical experience that reflects both on the past and the future with the audience.
