Three Sisters

“Three Sisters” is set in the late 1960s to 1970s, depicting the tedious and gloomy lives of three sisters. They yearn daily to escape their mundane existence and break free into a different world. The sisters engage in all sorts of trivial activities while expressing intense complaints and weariness towards their reality. "I want to live" becomes their shared mantra, even as they exist like "living dead."

In collaboration with the Japanese creative group Pappa TARAHUMARA, this play transposes the experiences of modern women onto the situations of Chekhov's female characters. Starting from the actors' own perspectives, the performance is concise yet poignant. Their portrayal is dynamic and multifaceted, incorporating the intensity of Japanese animation, the immersion of karaoke, and the allure of adult video actresses. This innovative interpretation blends classical literature with contemporary elements, creating a unique theatrical experience that explores themes of desire, frustration, and the struggle for meaningful existence in a stifling environment.
